Ponce-Davis Residence

A new home designed in an Old Florida style. A native tree canopy of silver, gold, and green hues shelters a garden of butterfly attracting shrubs and groundcovers. Mostly green with year round splashes of color keeps the garden high style but fun. A hedge of mixed natives provides privacy without looking stodgy.

With four young children, the clients wanted to create spaces for different forms of play. The front yard encourages exploration. The backyard is largely left open for lawn sports. A continuous paved path encircles the property for scooter and bike rides.

The site's biggest challenge was that the finish floor elevation landed about 5 feet above existing grade. To mitigate this transition, grass lined steps clad in keystone merge the lawn with the pool deck. The steps are broken up by tiered planters of fountain grass, bringing a beachy vibe to the pool deck. An infinity edge was added to the pool to take advantage of the height difference.
